Glass painting gives us the opportunity to add line and
shading detail to the glass. It starts as a brown or black
powder paint, which is mixed with different mediums. By applying
the paint in different consistencies, then stippling or brushing
off specific areas we can control the transmission of light.
Each piece is permanently kiln fired onto the surface of
glass. Silver stain can also be fired onto the glass to achieve
tones from pale yellow to deep amber. Each process is carefully
done by hand and is often built up in stages creating detail
and adding a new dimension to the glass. |
