"The original commission for this window was a simple cross in the central main lancets.
However, Father Lamb and the congregation really wanted this window to depict and act as a memorial for the 215 men and boys who died in the the Blantyre mining disaster, which happened on the morning of 22nd of October 1877.
This memorial window gathered various support and within months funds were available to create a design to fill the whole south wall.
This was over 50 square metres of glazing. This is a huge commission and the largest completed by Rainbow Glass Studio."
