Written Explanation

The design of the window is in the art style “iconography”. A recent Icon by Scottish artist Bernadette Reilly has been provided. It features “Our Lady of Paisley” and is in the Coptic style. The church is very enthusiastic with the image as presented by this artist. The image has been kept but altered to be adapted to stained glass and so to work with the chosen space and material. the figurative element has been retained as is within Reilly Icon. However, the carpet design and background architecture have been adapted. The carpet has been moved, so that it covers along the full width of the base of the window. This diffuses the ground level grass and lift the design up so that the figure has more light in. The inscription runs along the base, and any written text is in red. The background is a mix of various golden amber tones. Light at the top, reaching down to deeper amber / and golds at the base. The architectural element of Paisley Abbey and Saint Mirin’s Cathedral are also depicted in ambers only. Finally, the design has been framed with a border made up of various tones of turquoise blue to represent water.
