Window is based on the following passage-
Jesus said, "Let the children come to me and do not stop them, because the Kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."
Mathew 19:14. Good News Translation.
This window depicts the children within the church and their direct passage into the Kingdom of Heaven. The window shows 4 children of various ages. The oldest girl sits at the foot of the tree reading the bible as the youngest boy looks on in delight. The other girl and boy are climbing up the tree in active play. All are dressed simply in jeans with bright coloured t-shirts. Their bare feet connect directly on the earth that God made. The children are all actively engaged in life and remind us of the pure and unquestioning nature in which a child both receives and gives love. This purity of soul opens the gateway to the Kingdom of Heaven above us. It is a reminder that we are all God’s children and should have trust in our faith in the same way as a child.
The tree connects the children from the ground in which it grows. It reaches upwards, the branches flow and intertwine until they reach the Kingdom of Heaven, resplendent in tones of gold and amber. This symbolises our journey through life and connects the earth in which we live to our placement in heaven.
Our faith guides us on our passage through life, however, short. Faith cannot always deliver what you want, but it will give you the support to deal with what you are given. The composition of the tree, with the branches flowing upwards is designed specifically to draw the viewer’s eye up to the Kingdom of Heaven. I want the viewer to feel joyful and uplifted. The children are depicted in a happy playful manner, while the riches within the Kingdom of Heaven shine down. If anyone has a keen eye, I have based one of the buildings on our own St Nicholas church! Above the kingdom, we have plain clear glass to express a pure message of faith.
