Surveys

We value the future preservation of our country's stained glass windows.

Review and Report

RGS operatives have the expertise required to undertake site-based surveys and initial reports, providing the condition of the windows, highlighting probable causes of the deterioration and statements of need. A clear and concise conservation strategy will then be established based on the specific requirements of the glazing in the building.  Our team of experts will guide you for cost-effective course of action. We will finish with recommandations for a suited protection system. Breakdown of all costs and priorities with options for various levels of intervention.

The strategy is specific to the functionality of the window. Museum pieces can be approached with a purest conservation mind-set. However, we have to tackle architectural stained and leaded glass as functioning windows. The fully conserved  window must withstand the weather conditions of its specific location. In Scotland, this is a challenge !!!
